This also applies to last night's match. 3-1 to the Socceroos, I mean Soccerguus. Great match, this whole comp so far has been pretty good. One thing I find slightly annoying is all these supposed know it alls who never usually follow soccer now giving their opinion to everyone on what formations and who Guus should play. Still it's a small price to pay.

Watching the Brazil match right now, the reception is dodge. The trip was good, will probably post later. I was planning to get another car instead, so this has pushed it forward on the agenda. I'm going to a couple of dealers probably next week with my dad and hopefully can actually get my current car there for them to take it off my hands. Of course with the purchase of a car, it means I'll be moving back to WPH as well. If I get the car next week, then I'll basically have 2 weeks to savour living not in the middle of nowhere before heading back. I would very much like to stay out, but with car payments and saving up for the trip, it'd be pretty tight, this way I get to save money. If friends decide to move out in the future, I would consider going with them, but this is not the case at the moment. So it looks I'll be back to being West side.

Tell me why

I remember a time back in the day, well the 90's, when I had a friend who was really into Backstreet boys, or BSB, as he would put it. At the time I, and a couple of others, called him gay. I mean come on, the Backstreet boys are prime for insults and parody. They are cliched and the way they synchronise with movements and attire is just funny. Also at that time I was into depressing alternative music, which I still sort of am, and possibly getting introspective listening to those depressing music for much the same reasons, which in itself is pretty melancholy inducing. But be that as it may, recently I have found that BSB is actually awesome. Sure the clothes and cliches are still there, but they are funny. The songs themselves aren't actually too bad. In fact, they are pretty good to sing to. Noone likes you when you are 23, and well another friend turned that age. Basically all my high school friends, bar one, is at that age now. Some are of course way ahead in their lives than me. I realised whilst watching Reality Bites, a great movie, that I can still identify with the issues and characters in that movie. I first watched it back near the start of uni, and I identified with it back then. So basically where I'm heading is that, am I stuck in terms of development like I'm still back in freshman year, and if so, I really want to get out of it. But as Troi said in the movie "All you need to be by 23 is yourself." I guess I am myself. I just like me to be more advanced in my life on a personal level. Backstreet's back though, and if they can keep making comebacks, then maybe your time will come, and plus I have moved on in one way since freshman year, I like Backstreet boys now.

3-3 is the new best scoreline

Stevie (fucking) G aka The Dominator. Watched the FA Cup final last night, and a bit of the highlights package today. Where do I begin? The match itself was eerily remenicscent of last year's Champions League final. Basically Liverpool being outplayed in most places, Kewell getting injured, dodgy keeping and trailing by fairly big margins. And of course the comeback. I don't really want to go into superlatives with Stevie G, but what a massive player. Made one, smashed in two. The second goal, especially, what a goal, came from nothing. Just picked it up and smashed it in from range. In the 90th minute. To save the game and drive it into extra time. Of course the rest is history, with the defence holding tight and the keeper coming good in the end.

Highlights of the game: Stevie G, Hyypia's turn and shot, Reina's saves. Sissoko also was awesome.

It really makes you feel a little that maybe, just maybe, somethings are destined. I'm not a superstitious person, but there are things which seem very coincidental or inplausible to say the least.

Thu-ha's party was also quite nice. Despite the out of the way nature of the place it was pretty nice seeing some of the old faces again. It also is quite a small world as I happened to meet the girlfriend of a friend of mine there too. I still haven't found an Angle tshirt. That and the meaning of life and other big ponderous things. Still the FA Cup was quite nice.

Nice

Been just chilling the last couple of weeks. Do want to mention finding a new place to hang out though. A lot of previous inexpensive, quiet places to have some cold ones have become too popular for their own good. Not that I'm against popularity for a place per se, but it usually just makes it too crowded and noisy. This new place is good. I like it. The world cup is getting closer. It's part of the TV watching I've been doing. Star Trek had a young Ashley Judd playing Ensign Robyn in a couple of episodes. She was so cool in these episodes, having a law for every life lesson she learnt. It was pretty nice. Also a bit nice is the The Game which I was given as a present. Haven't read a lot of it yet. Not much time really to spend reading, but I have during the weekends sometimes. It's actually quite good. Not in terms of the pick up tricks it gives, because they are dumb, noone is actually going to try them, but in terms of the story of the journalist who went and did all this. You've got to be impressed by someone who can handle the sort of embarassment this guy puts himself through. On another note, FA Cup baby. Get in there.

Ouch

It's going to hurt tomorrow. 4 whole days of not doing much, going to be hard to try to get back to doing something.

Anyway, we are the champions baby! If you don't believe me, check out the MASSIVE* trophy we got. Also as a result we've been promoted to the great division 3. That's a whole 1 division higher, and means we are now only in the 2nd last division. A bad development is the loss of our star player Greg, and of course the contributions of Raph and Crocker. Possibly, perhaps, if all play 100%, we can cope.

Due to the early weekend and the winning of the comp, we decided to celebrate on Thur night. The strangest thing happend though. We were denied service in, as everyone who knows the place will attest, a dingy pub for one of our group being too drunk. This would be alright if it weren't for the fact that I've seen much more intoxicated people get service there before. So we went somewhere else, which turned out to be more of a dirty pub. But it was frigging cheap.

Been watching copious amounts of TV and did something really geeky by going to a lan party the other night. Brought back memories of uni. The same group of people turned up, excluding one, and it was pretty fun. My neck hurts now though. 4 day weeks coming up, so it's not all bad. Go Fowler.

*actual trophy not massive or big at all

Bittersweet symphony

A lot has happened. I'll start off with the sweet part first. We are through to the final of the indoor competition. It's going to be played tomorrow. If we play like we have done so far, we should be able to get over the opposition comfortably.

Have a guess at which part this is. I broke up with Holly yesterday. But to be fair, I probably won't score so you won't really have much to worry. But I know there is like another goal somewhere for me. Have a great trip Crocker and don't get hitched without getting us there for free and plying us with alcohol. :)

Also, I'd like to say how irritating some characters on Neighbours are. They really are. I'm not going to a diatribe here but they so are. As annoying as walking around on a painful foot. The shoe was on the other foot the other weekend. Saw a certain person get really wasted. Like insanely. Not mentioning any names. But yeah, quite interesting to see someone else get wasted and basically stay in the toilet for hours. Hehehehe. :p I've not achieved that state of zen like vomiting for a while now.

Looking forward to end of financial year when tax returns will be obtained. Jarhead is a good film by the way. If anyone wants to take a day off, come to UNSW on Thur the 23rd. I can give you lots of pamphlets probably and show you the way to get a cool company polo. Oh yeah. I know that's too enticing.

Feb so far

Feb is almost finished. Apparently my boss will get me more involved soon. Have been going to meetings with investment managers and bankers and their offices are so nice.

Soccer is good. Wed doing fantastic and I scored, so no nuddy run. Mon night is going ok, we have our best run to date of no defeats for ages. Charlie Chan's is excellent. Very underrated. Need to save up a bit more.

Went back to uni for the 1st time since graduation ceremony. The Heffron building is getting knocked down to cater for a new law building apparently. Usually I would make a remark about elitist, snobby law students, but it's too easy. Plus I don't want to use up any of my brownie points yet. Bao came back from overseas. How time flew while he was away. :p Still, it's cool hanging out with him.

Still yet to watch Wing Commander. Summer's almost finished. Went to Avoca beach. It was a very good time. Sometimes I sort of think I should take more photos so as to capture the more precious memories I have. But when you are enjoying the moment, it's sort of difficult to whip out the camera. But there are so many things I tend to forget until someone takes me on a trip down memory lane.

Drinking and hanging with the guys was my fav part of the trip by far. Favourite song of the moment has to be Youth Group's "Forever Young". Which sort of makes me all nostalgic and contemplative. Like that Mercedes ad, I think life should be backwards. You should be born old and start work while old. And then when you are young, you have the money to really enjoy it and spend it in leisure. Otherwise, really you are just working to live and saving for a retirement that can't come soon enough.

It was very nice drinking with Crocker again, after a while of not really doing it. Beach was nice. Moo has a big arse camera. Little girls are scary. Berry is fucking hilarious. It's the year of the dog. Happy new years people. So far, it's shaping up to be an interesting year.

Fowler has returned to Anfield. But the more things change the more they stay the same. Watched some old film and they were making references to middle east, Bush (senior) and the Iraq war. They are all still relevant today, just change senior to junior. Religion can be quite comforting though. You know the point in life and a clear methodology by which to live. It's a little more complex for the rest of us. But I guess that's what makes it interesting.

On holiday

I am now on holidays for the next week. Oooooooooh yeah. Feel the quality. Avoca here I come. There were a lot of things to do this week, but it's alright now. I've heard good things about Goal. The movie features Stevie GG. It will be good. This is one of those non-exciting moves. I'm still in the same team, just that the team will move to another area on the same floor. That makes it two moves within 6 months from one desk to another on the same level. This comes about a couple of weeks before I move buildings to another team. I'm going to the investment team in super. The building is pretty nice. Where the toilets are quite nice and far away from where I sit so I can take my time going there and back everyday. Plus their air con isn't temperamental like the one in the current building. Having said that, it looks like the culture in my new team will be a lot more professional and less laid back than currently. Trade off I guess.

Got beaten 10-1 in the return game on Monday. Worst game I've ever played. We were slaughtered. Other highlights of the week involved drinking with Jeff, Crocker and the Fat Paul himself on Fri night. It was quite fun. I did wake up with some scratches I don't know how I got. Chicken Little was also really cute and funny. Still looking forward to the end of Jan and my holidays. Yeah, and Holly will be back too then :) . Another reason why the next couple of weeks can't go by soon enough.

On another note, if in Bleach, the Soul Society is sort of made up of a lot of people who died in the real world, how can they then die also in Soul Society? Unless it's like a dimension with similar physical laws to Earth and you pass onto another dimension later. It's sort of been a point that jars out in an otherwise series that's getting better.

Pass time

Being watching this anime about this girl caught in a love triangle. She's really dark because she's on the swim team. Anyway, girls can be so mean. It's all psychological as well. Subtle things which can really destroy you. Having said that Touji is an idiot. That last year just went by heaps fast. I have a couple of theories on why that is. Theory number one involves curvature of space time and us falling into some sort of time anamoly phenomenon. Theory number two involves us all having finished uni at last and started the first year of the real world, otherwise known as full time work. I think theory number one is the higher likelihood theory.

The Christmas period was pretty nice. Spent a lot of time having fun with friends and Holly. Also went on a houseboat. That was not that great really. But it could have been worse. Received an award from the risk management and funds operations team for my strategy work. Unsurprisingly a lot of the people there didn't know the department had a strategy team. But it was good to receive some recognition of the extremely hard work I've put in. Too bad I lost the $100 voucher.

NYE was spent drinking with the gang. Drinks with mates is hugely underrated and is genius and brilliant in its simplicity and fun.

The year that just passed was pretty good. There were ups and some downs but overall I really have nothing to complain about and it was pretty nice. That's not to say 2006 can't be better. I want to attain a trophy for one thing. That and the rest of my resolutions. So here's to an even better 2006.

Geek Manifesto

Hahahahaha...........boohooohoohooo...it would be funny if it weren't true. Last Tuesday was chilled out with the old grads finishing their program and we all had a nice drinks night out to celebrate. It was cool except for my friend leaving the next day for her leave which leaves a big hole in my day to day schedule. Lost in the semis of the futsal, and watched Harry Potter 4 on Thursday night. That was a great movie I thought. I know a lot of people don't agree with me. But it definitely raised the bar for the future Potter films.

Had the company Christmas party on Friday. I got to go home early and change. That was alright. Too bad the party wasn't fantastic. The higher ups got a good show though. The alcohol ran out quickly so I only got slightly pished. There were ambulances though, 3 women passed out and this guy had a fit in front of me. All in all an alright night. I backed it up by getting up early for a 21st party on Sat. That was fun. It felt strangely good to be back among the CSE and BINF people. The conversation was so nerdy that it was fun. It featured binary codes and PERL components. Even though there were about 3 girls there to 20 boys, it felt bad to leave. Especially guven I narrowly avoided crashes 4 times on my way to Holly's. Her bday was cool. Despite the rather disappointing early finish to the drinking game. But just chatting to another ex-fortian and the bday girl and her various were fun.

Lost again in soccer couple of days ago. On the bright side, I got a bed now. Show Stopper was also great last night. I want some sleep now. I have read that Aussie bloggers are more liable for their content than the US bloggers. Doesn't really apply to me as I rarely say anything too controversial aside from the usual Howard is an idiot diatribes. Only a month or more to go until my vacation.

So Sally can wait

Anyway, it's been a little while since last post. Haven't really done much besides hanging out with some mates a couple of times these past two weeks as well as hanging about various other places. But yeah, saw Oasis on Monday. It was awesome. Easily the best gig I've seen. Liam rocks hard like a good rocker. Words can't describe it, especially when they sang Wonderwall. But what sucks is that our team lost in the semifinals today. I hate going down in soccer to a team that isn't better than us, and by a golden goal too. It's so infuriating. It broke down again. Fluid leaking so bad that steering became impossible and a whole bottle will be used up in a 6 minute trip. Needless to say it needed fixing. It was fixed. $675. Ouch. Long term problem of it becoming undriveable after a longer than 40 min. trip is still there though. Speaking of long-ish trips and cars breaking down, saw Wolf Creek this week. It was quite good. The 1st part of the movie made me want to go on a road trip out west, the 2nd part didn't. There were some reasonably scary parts in the film. Overall it wasn't too scary and not one of those films which will creep you out afterwards. This didn't prevent a rather chicken Raph getting scared afterwards. Speaking of being scared, I also saw another horror film last night. Not that I'm usually into horror films, they seem sort of pointless. If it's a pointless film, I'd rather a comedy. But I saw the Exorcism of Emily Rose. Why is it that it appears it's alway girls who get possessed or become evil? Also they all have that weird lanky hair and scratch big chunks of walls. That was I guess slightly more scary than Wolf Creek, because I got a little creeped out afterwards. But not that much. Because I'm not overly superstitious. Speaking of superstitious, it seems the Aussies are still hoodooed with WC qualifiers. Lost 1-0 to the Uruaguay. Kewell played like a person who didn't get out of 1st gear. No good striker or free kick taker. Recoba was always a threat in those set-pieces. But one more game to come. Come on the Aussie. Those were some nice segues.

It's a papercut

As it usually happens let's start at the beginning. Last weekend was Nik and Ass' engagement party. I have a theory that they must have had a larger party some other time and this one was just for some of their friends. Bridge Bar was quite small. It was nice catching up with some of the peeps though. During the week I met up one on one with my buddy for next year. He will be starting in strategy. He asked what working in strategy was about. I had no answer for him. I am now just treading water until the next rotation.

Having said that, this week I had a day off on Monday followed by 3 half days. It wasn't really planned to have Monday off but since my mum's plane came in quite late, I couldn't really be bothered going in. Boss was nice enough to let me off for the day. The next 3 days saw me goto an effective writing course. That was well worth it, in terms of time off. I didn't really like the trainer. He was a little abrasive. Despite what I wrote about treading water, I had plenty of rain and pain during the week, even staying back fairly late.

Soccer saw one loss and one win during the week. It was good in the hood. Liverpool won again too. It's almost the end of the year again. How time flies. Seriously. It's like a papercut.

The wise to the Y (well copied from a song): Don't congradulate yourself too much or berate yourself either. Apart from the soccer there was the meet and greet with the new grads. That was alright, they all seemed liked a good bunch. Of course there was the highlight of everyone's week, my party. Ok possibly not the highlight of everyone's week. But at least some people. Possibly just my highlight then. Did the usual I guess, drank, sang and did a bit of jumping up and down. Also quite a few jokes were had at my expense, hahahaha, funny that. Clean up wasn't the best but hey, that's the price you pay I guess. Soccer team last night drew, so big improvement there. Had a launch party to goto today. Wasn't too exciting. I've been feeling as down as I usually do, but then I watched some of the Champions League grandfinal again. Great game. Makes me quite happy just watching the celebrations. Why can't they play like that every game? I thought at the time, it was the dawn of a new era with their new confidence and just sheer greatness from Alonso and GG. But no, they only seem to be able to get it up for the big teams and only in the champions league. Come on, European Champions, play like you should be able to and win a game, please, something, to bring some joy and excitement.

The words of learnedness

I think I will post from time to time some words of wisdoms titled "The wise to the Y" to go along with the normal posts. This week has started off with rain too. Those in the know will understand what I'm talking about. The weekend was quiet. Didn't do much aside from going to Mad's birthday combined with a housewarming party. That was quite fun. But I got hit a lot, by someone without provoking them. Also that someone couldn't stand Firefly being ignored. I mean sure it's a good series, but not at a party. Also soccer teams lost. As did one of them just now. We were thoroughly outplayed. Still Liverpool won. Also with any luck, clear weather from now on.

Changing of the guard

That's right, a new boss came in today. But he won't be staying to monitor me for much of a time. But he is hiring someone else to monitor me. Good point is that I get to sit in on the interviews. Also I got a buddy too so there goes the theory that I detract people. But that's the high point. The week wasn't that great with some turbulence about midway through the week. Did go clubbing on Sat night though. What's that? The Y clubbing? I mean he never clubs, due to the cover charge and the lack of nice music. But I was bored. As I was waiting in line, another thing I despise about clubs, saw this car drive by and the guy pass a bong to the chick who was driving to have a suck. I thought it was funny at the time as it was near everyone. But it was fun. Forgot how good it feels to cut loose on the dance floor with some funky lighting. Too bad the music wasn't too great. There were a few old school songs which I liked, but the rest was standard hip hop. What actually happend to dance music, that's acutally decent to dance to. Just veged on Sunday.

On other notes, I see the Howard government is now making a marketing push for their IR reforms. I would recommed people to listen to today's Hack from Triple J if you can download it from their archives. It outlined the policy quite nicely. Basically it blows, I don't have enough time to say how blowy it is right now, but later on I could. Also how right wing is Jag, and various other US antiterrorist shows? Turning everything into a religious conflict of good vs evil, surely the world is a little more complex and less clear cut than that. I don't know, but give love a chance.

Holly's Graduation

Once again, Holly congrats on the graduation. I don't think that I actually spent much time talking to you, or any of the other people there for that matter. I was so tired on Fri that I didn't think I would even last until 8, especially with a bad back. But last I did. With the whole indoor team there, festivities commenced. By which I meant a ship load of drinking. I was actually looking to do a ship load of drinking spread out through the evening so I could talk to some people, but that plan went out the door. Apparently I was dancing on a podium sometime during the night. I have vague memories of that. Woke up on a toilet though. And No, I didn't lock myself in as some would claim. I just had no energy to get up or reach for my phone. I don't know if I had fun or not. Don't think I had much opportunity to be my normal funny and charming self, due to spending a whole lot of time ordering drinks and being bamboozled by Crocker's mind tricks for me to get him more drinks.

Should rest up on the day before if I need to do something like this. And oh, I think I lost a whole wad of cash something in the region of $100.

By the way Breakfast Club rules. The nerd was the only guy there to not get a girl at the end though, which sucked. But apart from that, it was sweet.

I should be sleeping

I know I should be sleeping but I'm not. I know I'll feel like shit tomorrow when I can't get up. But at night, I can't bring myself to sleep even though I'm tired. It's weird. But I guess I'll hit the hay after this. It could be because there's this drunken uni mob outside of my window, but I don't think it is.

Anyway I just had indoor soccer. I played shit. Unfit like hell. Hopefully this unfitness will go away when the Monday games kick in and I play more. The game was a draw and will link to the match report when that is done.

But yeah, this unsettling trend has happened again. My home manager, i.e. the IT exec who hired me, has now moved onto another area. So now I'll have to get a new home manager and technically the area I was hired for doesn't exist anymore. This makes it a clean sweep. I come into IT and the GM leaves after a month, I get a mentor and he leaves after a few weeks, I move to another area and the boss along with the whole team leaves and now my home manager has gone. This is one pretty huge coincidence. I will need to sit down once again with the HR coordinator to figure out who I'll be reporting to. She must really be getting tired of arranging for new people to supervise me.

On other notes, I've been going through a personal quandry and whinging/talking about it more than usual to my friends especially Raph. I must annoy the shit out of that guy during the day. I email him like a million times during the day, often with crap that doesn't even make sense. I mean seriously, wtf is "Doofy woof goof" or "Happy dappy laps"? The rest which do makes sense basically talk about the same thing really. During lunch, I see him and whinge about the same crap. It's frigging unsettling. I think I would be severely ticked off if someone kept at complaining/discussing one subject to me constantly. Like as if they were obsessed with it. I'd tell them to Get a life or to Calm down. Dude, it's not something to fixate on. Or more likely just Get over it already, it ain't that bad. Come on, let's play hang man instead. Man, I've really got to shut the fuck up about my problems sometimes. It's like verbal diarhorea, can't stop it once it starts. It's not that interesting for Raph or for anyone else for that matter to constantly hear about it. Man, I can be such a doochbag sometimes. From now on, unless it's absolutely neccessary, I am gonna shut the fuck up and talk about something else for a change. Oh look, isn't this nice weather we are getting?

It's all mostly chance anyway, at least that's what the Sunscreen Song said. I'll reserve my tirades for here. Or if I'm really busting for a whinge.

It's back

Since I am here waiting for my laundry to go through the dry cycle, and hence can't take a shower yet (due to me putting the towels in with the rest of the load), I thought I'd do a little update. I'll start with the mundane and slowly work myself up to other things that I remember.

Food: No I don't think I was eating too unhealthily anyway...so there has been no real improvement or changes in that area. Basically had some Hokkien noodles with bacon, eggs and tomato, a microwave dinner and on other nights have eaten out or being provided free food.

Net: Yeah it's working ok.

Budget: haven't really done one. So I think I may start thinking about doing something along those lines, sometime during the week.

Apartment/Room warming party: possibly week after next when the unis start their holidays...but the great roof may be closed so I don't know where we could go. Possibly a park party if people aren't too fussy, which I think they are. So yeah I'll need to think about it a little.

The Week that was:

I'll start this one off with McGhee's Revenge. Twas the first outing of McGhee's Revenge (in its current incarnation) on Wed. I was a little apprehensive as we were without one of our starting players, aka Raph. Me and Crocker got there early and scouted out the competition. It was all part of our tacticianising, aka strategy which is what I do. And also because we had nothing better to do. One of the teams we watched was awesome, they had this Crouch like player who was actually skilfull. Luckily they didn't seem to be in our division (the mighty division 4).

The game started with us having one less player on the field than the other team, due to the aforementioned missing player and our cover player not yet turned up. I won't go into details of the match, as I'll link to the match report later. I don't think I played too well at the start. The cold didn't help, but what really didn't help was the lack of match practice. It was evident from the warm up that I needed a bit of time to get my touch back. But towards the latter stages of the 1st half I was getting a little of it back. Crocker as usual showed his class in parts of the game...can't wait for him to hit top form, but class is permanent and he looked it throughout the match. Tran was solid despite injury and our cover player Len kept the oppostion defence busy with some good runs. But the best has been saved for the last. Jeff aka Goldenboots was simply dominating. He was like a machine crossed with a beast crossed with a machine like beast. It was a Stevie G (rap for me) and Carradona combined performance. Scorer of our 4 goals and made the keeper's job so much easier. And now for the match report.

Well getting a new boss next week. He's apparently very impressive. All the ladies I've spoken to are quite taken with him, I believe the exact quote being "He's smart, he's French and he's cute". That may be so but I feel I need something else here. To be fair others who have met him are also impressed by him. Monday night's function was pretty cool. By cool I mean, I got to eat some nice food, and caught up with some of the other grads. Ahhhh, the eager young minds of next year's grads was quite apparent, even following up the next day with an email to both me and the actuary grad wanting to keep in touch. Can't wait until I get the mentoring happening next year. Also had a great time watching Little Fish at Fox Studios. Just say no to drugs kids. Funnily enough on the way back to the city, lots of UNSW students on buses. Was I always such a nerd staying back late? That all nighter for Asian Business Finance notwithstanding, I don't think I stayed too late on campus, well at least I drove home if I did.

Sailing was quite fun, if it wasn't the only day of the week where it rained. Didn't really do much schmoozing, was kind of tired, and my nose was sore from a cold. That and I hadn't shaved in days, looked a little unkempt. In fact after the race, I was sitting on a lounge and I just dozed off. Got woken a while later, after people were starting to ask questions on whether I had just wandered in and passed out. Yeah, as a result didn't partake too much in the free drinks. A lot of shmoozing happened though by other people. Some people can really work a room. Especially the women in my team. More surprisingly I was lumped along with another IT person into the actuary team. They got talking to Kieran Perkins and a few other wealthy/well known people. Would have been a fun night if I wasn't buggered. I went home early, and met Helen and Rhonda in the city by coinincidence. They talked and dissed a bit about their day and PWC in general. That was amusing. Having changed I came back out to the city, thinking I'd meet up with the actuaries for a little post sailing r&r, but they left at like 8. Fortunately ran into some IT guys, and it was pretty fun. I may be biased here but IT guys are cool to hang out with as a general rule, probably due to similar backgrounds and interests. Too bad I'll be moving to another floor soon, away from the IT guys, which is a bit strange. But if the new dude is as impressive as everyone makes him out to be then, I guess it's ok.

At WPH right now, for the moon festival with parents. Using their bandwidth to download a whole lot of apps I like on my laptop. Soccer on Monday and Wednesday. Come on. Psyched, looking forward to beating the other teams.

The day after the day after

So it was the big move. Well really, not that big since everything fit into my car. After getting all the things into the room, I proceeded to unpack. That took all of 20 minutes or so. So I had a bit of time to kill before meeting up with some mates for dinner, since they happened to live close. Freye came over to the new place. I showed him the roof. That is the best bit about the place if I do say so myself. Too bad it’s going to be renovated soon so will be closed for a while. Didn’t do much afterwards, suffice to say the highlight was playing forcing backs in a nearby park around midnight. The ball was hard to see. Didn’t really have much to do the next day, except the shopping. Bought quite a bit of grocery, mainly noodles and bacon, and threw in some fruits just to be not entirely unhealthy. Walked through Syd Uni, pretty uni, got tired, had dinner, which were noodles, and basically plonked myself in front of TV. Strange Bedfellows was shocking. It had one good line though: “I don’t know anything about being gay, and we’ll be against the expert of gayness.” Yeah. Did I hear you want to hear more of my weekend? Well there’s nothing else to tell. I went to sleep after the movie.

Go Liverpool, 1 goal (in 3 league matches), undefeated. Hurry up and score someone. Scoring record is equal to Newcastle. But at least we got an immense defence.

Going down to Camperdown

I will be moving out to Camperdown in a few short hours. Going to share with this other dude. Well I think the place looks good. Not going to have the net for a bit, but hey, I can check things in strategy, in between intense thinking. Looking forward to the start of the indoor comps. Excited? Darn tooting. Getting out of WPH. Although I'll still visit.

I may check out some of the bars in Newtown, I have a soft spot for Kuletos. I just may have a shindig to celebrate getting a room, or even a hooch nanny. Crocker says he knows a couple of friends who live in the same building, or the building next to my place. It'd be cool to get to know them if Crocker comes to the hypothetical shindig. Let's see if by next week my enthusiasm for being out of WPH is still the same or not. But I did look at this nice place in Camperdown. It's quite good and the guy seemed nice enough. I have talked it over with my parents and they were surprisingly quite cool about it. Going to ring back tomorrow to settle the deal. Only real down side is its lack of phone line, I've looked at Exetel's wireless plans and they are quite affordable aside from the whole purchasing another modem thing. Mainly a person I was going to move out with pulling out at the last possible moment. So it's back to the drawing board. City to Surf was last week and generally quite good. This week has been a bit eventful and busy. Sang karoake and it was great. Fortunately got a lift back all the way to Epping, but as the driver was dying, it was something like 530 in the morning, he couldn't make it all the way to my place and then to Blacktown before 6, which apparently was his "curfew". Anyhow, in conclusion I live too far away and law people at parties can be cliquey.

Liverpool hasn't impressed me yet, still looking forward to feeling the greatness of the midfield combination and the forward line. I kicked off funday by meeting up with a long time not done anything with uni friend. That was quite dull. I don’t know what happened, maybe it’s the oppression of being an accountant for too long but she was really dull. Nothing like the friend I remembered from the uni days where she was quite funny and who I had a great time with going up the coast. Anyway, she just sat there and said nothing. I tried going somewhere else, thinking she’d go home but she stayed on. Did meet up with a mate of mine. The big revelation now is that the Mando club is hip. All sorts of young, trendy people were visiting it. What was really shocking however was that I actually had to wait in line to get drinks and snacks. It’s unheard of at that place. The bad singing is still present though. I think it may be time to find a less hip place, although that is quite a difficult task. I think under the Criterion is the new unhip place to be. Went to a xmas in July/Aug party on Sat night. That was a dud. Didn’t know anyone and everyone was a bit too sophisticated and bourgeoisie for me. So I went and played LAN with the guys to send off Ker. That was the gist of the activities.

On other things I didn't get Optus pay tv. There was trouble with installation. But there's a pre-existing foxtel cable there so we are getting that instead. With any luck, we can get fox digital before the start of the epl season. On other notes, probably making a booking today for a pink slip and going to look at share accommodation online. The actual apartment looking won't begin for another couple weeks as I don't have time this weekend/not have car due to putting it at the garage. Chan is back at the forum. He's making up for lost time too.

Predictable post about the special extended weekend

The weekend still hasn't finished. I actually feel quite good about the fact that whilst others are bustling around I get to ease back and chill. Haven't been doing much these past weeks. I finished reading Harry Potter. If you don't want to know anything about the ending, please stop reading.

The ending of the book was quite a tear jerker. Not that yours truly was wussy enough to have shed a tear (not). Even though I did see it coming about midway through the book, it was still oddly sad. I will need to get something else to read now. I went lawn bowling on Saturday. It's surprisingly rigorous and I think I'm pulling up sore near the knee region. However it was a very nice day, the weather being very accomodating, the buffet being filling and the beer quite chilled. The bowling itself wasn't too bad either. Ker made a return to our shores this weekend. I think he's staying for about 2 weeks. It's funny how you automatically slip back into your old habits around people you haven't seen for a while.

Fantastic time getting up late today. Very nice. Think it may be time for a nap. Sleep ranks pretty high among my preferred things to do right now.

Off the plaster

No more getting plastered for a while. The end of financial year party went off with a bang. I had a very hectic week, and the all inclusive party seemed like a good outlet to boogy on down. Free food, free drinks and free massage, I think that's pretty close to a great combination. Admittedly I didn't eat much. I think I drank so much that I was filling full. Had a massage of course. I was so plastered I spent the whole night with actuaries. To be fair, they were quite interesting, I think. They were also different ones to the people I normally deal with. But anyway, it wasn't my plan to spend so much time with them, it just so happened I was waiting for a drink when one of them spotted me and started talking to me. I had no idea who she was. Then I found out she was an actuary graduate who for some reason remembered who I was. Drinking games was played. Gets blurry at about the time I left which must have been around midnight, because there was a couple of calls on my phone from around that time. I remember waking up in vomit. And so I got off the train and walked it back to Pennant Hills, luckily I was only one stop off. Then I remember coming home. Saturday I wake up, and my pants have this red stain that is either blood or something that looks like it. I also lost the belt on it. And my stomach wasn't feeling too good. So no more of these getting plastered for a bit.

Besides that, this weekend has been alright. Nothing too strenuous. Soccer today was alright. Getting the Harry Potter book tomorrow.

That turn around

The player we all like did a big change of mind this week. But that's cool. What's better was the half day on Friday. Got out at 1. Even better was that queer eye thing works. Wore this clothes that was on my recommended list and a couple of female friends I met up with later said I looked really good. What isn't great was that they didn't initially think it was me, which sort of suggests I dress craply normally. This weekend just played football2005 and actual football. Getting my touches back. Wore my Carradona shirt again and there were this great flick and dribble I did. It's good. Football is still good even though the people come in late.

The Football

None what so ever of that. However I am getting back into the guiding Liverpool to glory bit. Not much happened on the weekend except staying too long at this dinner, should have just not turned up and listening to the Live 8 concerts. Fat Paul also sang. That was pretty undescribable. Still it beats a whack to the head.

Script ideas

The weekend provided more ideas for the movie that's in the pipeline. It will start filming as soon as either I or Jeff get a camera. Anyway, one of the coders had a son, so there was much drinks down at Verandah. I don't know why all these bars look the same, no personality, steel everywhere, crowded, loud and bad music and expensive drinks. Needless to say to drown out the noise I got stuck into the drinks. The night gets real blurry around about 10. Apparently I phoned quite a few people and said some dumb things. Not as dumb as walking into a ladies bathroom on Saturday night though. I swear the girl in front of me going into the toilet looked like a guy. I was wondering why the toilet door had a big W on it. I made my apologies and beat a quick retreat.

But onto more serious matters. End of financial year coming up and that means everything is going at warp 4. The upcoming week should be quite important. I'll probably know where I'll be for the rest of the year. Barring a dream move to marketing, I want to goto the Japanese sectors team. The dude there is cool. Nice building too. Fingers are crossed for everything.

The cricket

Anyway didn't really do much. It's Sunday, yet tomorrow I still have a day of carefree fun. So what exciting and oh-so brilliant things have I done? Well I slept quite a bit.

On Fri night, skipped usual, and went bowling. Scores weren't up to my usual high standards. But there was one game where I got on a roll. This was broken when I got distracted by this guy who had a weird style of bowling. It went bad from there. Ended up losing to WY in the last game despite her bowling left handed, when she's right handed. Did a bit of lifting on Sat, but you know thanks to my fitness (cough) I didn't feel any soreness. Did intensive TV watching with Moo later in the night. Today, I got back in it. As in soccer. First time in a month. Wearing my Carradona shirt. I was immense. By which I mean I had the first touch of Carradona. At least I put in some fairly cool crosses and did this fancy dribble, pass combination towards the end. But still, the lack of soccer was showing. I did last for ages though. That's a bonus. As is tomorrow being a holiday.

Before sleep

Thought I would make a quickish post before going to sleep. Recently went to a "Queer Eye" training session where my facial structure and complexion was used to pick the type of colours and patterns which would suit me. Along with the whole accessory and different combinations for different situations. What struck me was the huge amount of effort and time all this looking good involves. But the advice was "you dress for the job that you want". But I want to be Stevie G, so should I just go around in a Pool jersey?

Chuck's graduation party last night. It was pretty good. I can safely say it was the drunkest I've seen Jeff for a bit. I did want to go to a karaoke though. Wilson Pok was in attendance. I reckon his research area is pretty cool. Would love to be doing what he's doing.

I did go and get a couple of shirts, which is actually alright due to the stocktake sales going on right now. Also congrats goes to Raph. He will be joining the awesome IT team at CBA. Too bad it's in CommSec and not in my area. However I hear that he will be working on a project which I too will have a small part in. Can't wait for him to start so I can start asking him how to do certain parts and what some of the other things around it are doing. In fact, I think it will be like every other computer course I've done with him, in that he can help with what's going on. But also there will be another person to join the email list and to have lunch with.

Speaking of Pool, here's something I read -

'A story reaches us about Liverpool's Champions League hero Jamie Carragher, from a former club room-mate. A few years back this Liverpool player was sitting on his hotel bed reading the newspaper when his young room-mate wandered in.

'Without uttering a word, Jamie switched on the the TV porn channel, stripped naked, lay on his bed, and got stuck into a hand-shandy. Once done, he shot on his fingers and flicked his load on to the wall.
'At this point, the room-mate turned and looked quizzically at Carragher who, undeterred, simply replied "Wha? I'm only havin' a wank!"'
Go Carradona. I have his T-Shirt.

Devine

Here's a quote from Miranda Devine's new opinion piece:

The Australian public has seen what Corby's defence team saw long ago: a transcendent grace that makes her guilt implausible. Her strength of character, not to mention the careful styling and stunning good looks, improved in recent months by jail-time weight loss, have bolstered her claim she is innocent and that corrupt baggage handlers planted the drugs in her boogie board bag.
And here's the link: Grace under fire.

Not to get all worked up about Devine, and regardless of whether Corby's actually guilty or not of smuggling some dope, that argument has got to be the dumbest ever. In summation it's like saying "Oh Corby's a bit of an alright, yeah yeah she's fit, she must be innocent then." Give me a break. Just because she "graceful" doesn't mean she can't smuggle dope. It's got to be that some unpretty looking baggage handler that's done it.

For the record, I don't have a clue of whether she's guilty or not, but even if she were guilty I think the punishment is too harsh. I mean 20 years? The crime doesn't justify the time.

Have an actual larrrrrrrrrrrf

3-0 down and looking at the barrel. Felt pretty sick. Wanted to call in sick and go back to sleep. But wait............farking Stevie G, he was a beast of a machine. Carradona didn't stop tackling, he was gone in extra time, but he just said "Nup" and defended like the immense scouser that he is. I was actually joking with this friend of the friend who I watched last night's origin with. He's polish. He said he was going for Liverpool and would watch the game because Dudek is a hero and is the best keeper in the world. I thought he was being ironic. He wasn't, he was quite serious and believed it. I still don't believe it. Dudek is such a tool. But even tools can be useful. He pulled it out of his rectum today. What a game to actually make saves in. Who cares if they can't defend it next season? They won it this season and that's huge. As the drunken Irish developer two desks away from me printed out in a huge sign posted to his screen: Liverpool are the Champions of Europe. That developer by the way just came in to print and post the sign, I didn't see him for the rest of the day. I felt like calling in sick, but I'd left my wallet at my friend's place so I had to go in anyway to get it. I think this is the best day of my life for a while. Yeah, Origin was good as well. Apart from that, everything else is still the same.

Champions league? I think I'd like to watch it again, as I had a bit already by the time the movie rolled on. I thought it was the best out of the prequels. The first, Anakin really annoyed me, the second, Anakin annoyed me and him and Padme was just really unbelievable in a not good sense, and this one, Anakin didn't annoy me as much. More fights. That was quite awesome. But I felt slightly let down, I don't know why, probably because Anakin is so dumb. I backed up watching the movie with shedloads of sleep. Which was backed up by the FA Cup. How Man U didn't win is beyond me. Backed this up with more sleep. As well as watching the Hitchhiker's Guide, the movie. It's not bad. But could have been better. Trillian is really pretty (the girl from Elf plays her). The robot is cool as well. That's the weekend rap.

Steps

Stairs, or steps have been a little bit tricky for me this past two weeks. I have fallen off steps three times in these couple of weeks. As a result, I have a pretty bunged up knee. But that's not the whole point. The question of what I really want to do has been surfacing a lot. What do you want to do? I don't know. The point is though, I don't know where I'm going and seem to be just drifting. It'd be so much simpler if I just believed in something. It'd be good to have a grand scheme in front of me as a reference point. It's like you taking the steps, all nice and easy, but then one of those steps fall away and you trip. Ok, that analogy just didn't do anything. What I'm getting at is, I don't know what I want to do or where I'd like to be doing things, I have a general gist of where I want to be, but have no idea which way is the easiest. Of course right now, I'm just using the way of least resistance. It'd be easier if I just knew there was a higher purpose to things then I wouldn't really feel lost. Or I could just be pointlessly looking for a return to times when I didn't really have any major decisions to make and everything was nice and clear. Wait, maybe I should just consult my Ben Elton book.

Don't Panic

Bought the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. Thought I may as well read it as the movie looks pretty cool. Had a few junkets this week. Most memorable and enjoyable was Tuesday nights. The speaker only plugged her book a hundred times, but that doesn't detract from the free food and drinks. I tried to get some bottles to go, but alas, they didn't go for that. Went on the drinks with a few others and caught the last train to Hornsby. Next day wasn't too great though, especially since I had to get in early. Didn't do much Fri night, again the usual. Although further to my discussion with Freye, I've had a brainstorm. The storyboard need not be too hard to do, as we can always look through the posts here for ideas. Also on Fri night, fell asleep on the train and winded up in Hornsby. Had to catch a taxi back to my car. This is the first time that's happened. I usually do fall asleep on the train, but normally I wake up, and I set an alarm anyway that rings before I get to the station. But for some reason, this train must have been making really good time, since the alarm still had ten minutes to go. Taxi ride was a bit costly considering the distance. But better than waiting however long for a train. Also caught the Intepreter. Ok movie, nothing too great. Gets a little dull in the middle. But still better than Hitch.

Josie

Yes, Josie is so cool. Anyway, enough of that. Won a couple of free tix to a preview movie this week. So I went. Incidentally the movie "Criminal" was alright. It gave me a chance to see Jeff and Crocker in action at USyd. I'm sure Jeff will post about the action on his blog, so I won't go into detail here, but from what I saw, I was pretty impressed. Especially the dummy. On Fri night, the usual happened. I was feeling so buggered and tired though, that I left early. By the time I got to my car, I didn't have enough energy to drive. I napped in the backseat for more that two hours. I gots to get more energy for these things, or something. Did jack all on Sat. Watched a DVD on one of the wkends. Basically the dude in the movie is sort of like me, so that's one book and one movie with people like me as central characters. Oh and Harold from Harold and Kumar had this cameo role in this thing I also watched. He's so cool. This brings us to soccer today and that's about all for the weekend. PS I'm not going to do anything about the graph for emails. Could be watching TV instead. And Josie is from the song Josie, as a tribute to the Blinksters who are no more.

Feel the quality

It's ANZAC after this week. Had a few work fronts rain down hard on me this week. I suppose I don't mind that much as it made the days go by pretty fast, except it made me tired for everyone of them.

Being reading my book. I say "my" book as the character is depressingly similar to me. It actually made me feel bad about myself. Seeing it in black and white what he/I have or have contemplated doing. But on the plus side, the story is great and he's improving.

Been keeping a log of my emails to a email pal during the week. I thought I would put up the graphs of it with this blog but have been pretty lazy. I've got one set of graphs done, will do at least one more and then I'll put the lot up so people can check out when and how much we email.

Met two, yes count them, TWO, lovely ladies on Friday. The first one was the sister of this executive manager I do things for. It all was going good and was hoping for a drink with her until she starts banging on about a boyfriend. Strike one. Then after work and after a few beers with the lads and lasses, I decide to goto NSW Leagues Club. There I meet another lovely lady. She starts chatting with me, we are playing drinking games, she in IT, we talk for 2 hours straight, getting more and more drunk. Thinking that I'm in with a chance. Out of nowhere her boyfriend reveals that he is her boyfriend. I don't know the dude too well but he ain't all that. Fricking RBA economist. WTF is that? Strike two.

Leagues club played Bon Jovi and Khe San though. Not that much of a consolation.

Read more of my book yesterday and today. It's getting real good. It was ok weekend, basically same old. Lan on Sat, putt putt today. Not the putt putt bit, that's something new. But watched Attack of the Clones again after watching the new Star Wars trailer. I actually don't think EpII was too bad. Sure the acting between the lovely Portman and the brooding Anakin was pretty crap. But some of the fight scenes were pretty good, and there was a little bit of mystery there. If they cut out a heap of the romance parts it'd be better. It's not realistic as it is anyway, and made me feel conflicted. I liked watching Portman on screen, but the scenes with her were filled with bad acting and silly lines. Oh well, there's always Garden State.

The long weekend that wasn't long enough

Thursday saw the end of the week and the start of the long Funday. Started the night out early with lots of drinks down at Martin Pl. Slowly, quite a few people turned up including this young lady who was quite alluring. But she left early. Jeff came, we went to North Sydney. Went to some pub there. Don't remember the details of what happened there. Met up with Mad, her sister and some of their friends. Walked around a bit, tried chatting to this girl, but then her boyfriend came out of nowhere. Wound up in some bar/club. Didn't really like the music. Jeff got kicked out. Danced to 1 Bon Jovi song. Got driven back to Pennant.

Fri was basically Ring 2, not a great movie. Poker too. On Tuesday. Should be good. Highlight of the week was sending a reply to Jeff supposedly 1 minute before his email arrived to me. That was freaky. Also drinks on Friday night with the grads was pretty cool. The training was pretty much pointless but starting the drinking nice and early around midday was nice. But by around 9 I was really tired, and called it a day. On the way home, got on a train at around 10pm, and there was this guy from the office. He had apparently just finished up for the day and would be going back the next day at 8am. That is insane. Watched Constatine. In an ironic twist the first big project I will be developing is called Life Upgrade. Yes. I think it's a sign. I'll ace this Life Upgrade and my actual life could also be upgraded. Also did the preliminary course work and test for FSRA tier II. The test was pretty easy, didn't even need to study much. I got satisfactory, which is on par with uni.
On actual life, went bowling again on Friday. Didn't reach the giddy highs of two weeks ago final game, but was quite consistent. Over 110 in all games I think, with a high of 143. Need to work on the quickness of it still. Also went on last night. To a club. Playing R'n'B. It was so slow. Couldn't really dance much to it. Luckily I managed to convince my friend to go somewhere else with me. So we went somewhere cheaper and with a jukebox. Watched Harold and Kumar again. Still a quality movie. Friend's sister came back and watched with us. The sister is still hot. Think I spent too much on drinks though at the club. When coming home earlier today, the Harbour Bridge was closed. I missed the detour to Anzac and it took me ages to get back on. Yeah I know that was very interesting. Probably play soccer later.
Life Upgrade starts tomorrow. Also this other small project will finally move on from my stage after getting approval, with this lady stalling me a lot. She actually gave something for me to finalise after only commenting on my work at 4:50ish on Friday. Total cowish behaviour. Had to stay back to finish it. She could have commented a little earlier. Ok, must concentrate on positives. I didn't have to stay until 7:30 like someone else. Here's to a very good week starting Monday.

Not much happen

Indeed, not much did. Monday was training, and there was a great call from another graduate. It was a talk on harrassment issues, and I started to sing a couple of lines and this chick goes "is there musical harrassment?" It was pretty funny. Tuesday was a piss up day. About midday, everyone went to a farewell lunch for this exec. About half the group got sloshed, where upon one of the managers started giving everyone high fives, including me a couple of times when she heard a) I knew someone she knew and b) I graduated from uni. So I got to leave early in the afternoon. Wednesday I actually did quite a bit of work so it went by fast. But Thur and Fri went by slowly as I did not have much going on, waiting on somethings.

On other things, went bowling. That's it. Also slept a shiteloads. Was on fire in the last and unfinished game. Perhaps next week shall see more fun and funday will come about sooner.

Can not give you more power

This week saw the 1st blackout I've had since moving to West Pennant Hills (aka the farside of the world). When overseas I was plenty not sad. And I believe I have carried on this non-sadness indefinitely. Anyway, I had a BBQ on Aus Day (need more of those Aus days). Had slight difficulty in lighting the damn thing but that was solved by getting some fire-enhancing material. It was alright I guess, saw some people I haven't seen for a while.

Last night was Dang's big music business warming party. Crocker gave me some advice to cut down on the stupid (gay) jokes, and I think he has a point. It was a nice night. Bacon tasted good, Brazilian beer was also nice. Scored again today in indoor. Just like last week, I was the first scorer for my team. We then went on a winning streak (of 3 games) after that match. On another note, watching the 80's Show. Top notch program. Roger is so cool, though I don't want to emulate him.

The week that was

Started my job this last week. One word pretty much sums up most of it: boring. I didn't do much, the internet stopped working on my pc so can't even surf web. But did goto a few meetings, saw some projects that were coming up, and I can tell that it will be quite challenging. With any luck, it will be just challenging enough so that I can do it properly. Also worked out I was spending shiteloads buying food. Need to cut down on that. Paid off all my debts that I have accumulated from trip and car with my very first pay cheque (YEAH!!!!!!!). But I don't have much money remaining. I am required to keep a learning journal as part of my programme so I think I'll post things learnt on here and then just cut and paste later. Let's see the most important thing learnt so far will have to be to have some nous in conversations with the huge amount of politics and also to goto bar with execs, they put all drinks on their card :). Looking forward to filling out this journal.

On other things, watched two movies this week. Alfie and Phantom of the Opera. Alfie average. PotO was quite cool. Some of the sequences were mad. Emmy Rossum is pretty also. And I scored 2 goals today. Yep, it's looking up. Australia Day this week. It's like a miniweekend. I like weekends.

What's that? Haven't really had the inclination to update until now, mainly because I'm waiting for my first meal of day to cool down. Anyway didn't really do much for the last day. As has been written met up with a few people for a few drinks. So pretty much like normal then, ended it the way I went through it, ie bludged my class to goto Roundhouse to sit around. Then I got some money back and watched some free videos. I'm nothing if not consistent.

I could try to make life more interesting, as recent events have made me think a little, but I don't think I will. You must have thought the birthday party I went to, was mine, but it isn't. Did go to another birthday last night, but it was expensive, and not that great. Dinner took around two hours to arrive. Yes, that's right. There weren't any discounts on it either. Just thought people should stay away from that place. It was called something Roma. Can't remember the first name of the place, but it specialises in ribs. They weren't that great. The week has been relatively the same as other weeks. Nothing too great to write about, but that warning about that ribs place is a warning to everyone. The place is one of the worst I've been to, in terms of price to serving quantity. So better to write nothing if you can't write something good. But this week against Fulham, it was pretty good. I don't care if the commentators said Liverpool played crap. We all know that they play crap away, this being their 1st league away win, so that's not news. What is this: 2-0 down at half time. Defence playing "like a bunch of cows". 2nd half: Baros double, Alonso freekick, BISCRAP goal. This along with Josemi getting red carded. How dramatic is that? And Biscrap scored. I don't think I can remember the last time he's done anything good. I was so excited I was thinking about it for a while. They actually came back for once. Still played bad, but at least they won. Consisted of movies, cafe, dinner, ice cream. Shark Tale was OK, there were a few nice points to the movie. Cafe was OK, dinner I suppose was alright. So far, it's within expected range of spending for someone. Then comes ice cream. This is where it gets silly. It was decided for some reason to go to Double Bay to get the ice cream. I mean seriously, ice cream pretty much tastes the same everywhere, especially the flavours we ended up getting. The people who said it was "much better, can taste the difference" are obviously really sensitive to taste, or it's all just psychological. The ice cream was so expensive. One person thought the surchage was for the nice views of the waitresses. They weren't that great, nothing to pay extra for. By the way, birthday boys should stop getting porn for their presents. This is the second time, I've witnessed one of my friends getting porn, however classy it is, there has got to be better presents out there. I gave him a non-sexually related DVD.

Mad's birthday was alright. However sometimes, it's frustrating, that people can't tell time. Expenses were in the way of food, drinks, travel. It also coincided with the Union Ball. Now that's what a good time is about. Free dinner, free all you can drink beer or wine. Expenses were in the way of listening to a little speech, but that was OK. I believe I tried hitting on this chick, who said she would love to do something with me, however she's going to Japan for a year. I believe those two things are completely unrelated. Went back to Mad after saying farewells to a friend who just graduated and is getting married this month. After a whole lot of not doing much, caught a nightride home. There's a reason I've never caught a nightride home before. Takes forever. Couldn't find my car at Pennant Hills. Needed to go around searching for it.

In conclusion, porn should not be given as presents as I feel it can be obtained without too much trouble on the web, don't go to exotic and far away locations to get something that's pretty common and can be obtained pretty easily in closer places, travelling is inconvenient, free things are good. Also Bush speaks so strangely.

Re: Pride and Prej

You liked the last episode of P&P!!!!???? In venturing out into the rain today to check the mail as well as other general things outside the house I needed to do, the front door closed on me. I didn't have my keys on me, and was basically dressed in my sleeping attire, aside from a jacket I'd put on. Had to climb over this stupidly high locked gate to get to the backyard. That was such an inconvenience. Then removed the fly screen of the only open window accessible from the outside and basically squeeze myself through. In all this toing and froing, managed to slip on the wet ground on my bare feet and basically realised it's a good idea to hide a key somewhere outside for a situation like this.

Chariots of the gods

This is von Daniken's famous bestseller. It is my task to write an essay based on it, mostly to debunk it as well as some of the more popular theories pertaining to extraterrestrial visits in the distant history of human kind. While the book raises some interesting phenonmenon, it is difficult to decide what to believe and what to dismiss as pure fibs. It is well known that the author has made up some of the evidence cited in the book, in particularly pottery and mispresented some facts. The writing style is also very irritating, with the author continuously posing and suggesting questions which form quite explicit implications without any back up or reasoning. On top of this, the author is extremely patronising to the reader, for example in one passage he shies away from a particular scientific explaination because he believes that it will not interest the layman and that the layman, that is the reader, will not understand him. I thought I would enjoy this book, if not for interesting points, but at least for entertainment. However it's quite scant on both accounts. I just need to fill in a whole essay on this now. As it stands it will actually take me a while to debunk his arguments, for there are many, so I guess I need to isolate it to just a few major ones.

Ching

Got all my money out today from Geared fund to have money for trip. Only realised this pretty recently when I saw parts of Lost and Delirious again.

Groups

A nicer group for labs would be fantastic.

It goes on

Got a speed ticket today. But need to get odometer fixed. Have that booked in on Saturday. However after coming back to the car just a few hours ago I found the right side mirror smashed. Some fool has hit it while it was parked there near university. It's just clinging to the fixture. A big bump would make it drop. That is another thing I need to get fixed on Saturday. Probably add another hundred or more to the bill. The saga to get this car fixed continues.

Weekend

The weekend was mostly taken up by two things. Getting car fixed for pink slip and Von's party. The former I will eloborate somewhere else. Well the 21st was pretty cool. However really tiring, for me it started around 7pm on Saturday and ended at 1:20pm Sunday. I couldn't take too much more and left whilst the rest of them did something else. After dinner we went to Louwerbraun (not sure about the spelling). The drinks there were costly but you can get it like in litres. So I drank about a litre and did some moves on the dance floor, which mostly had 80's era music. Next we went to Law afterparty. Free drinks. Spent change on jukebox. Despite complaints from girls about shoes being all hurty we hiked it to a karoake place across from cinemas. Unlike the others I've been to, they had great range of English songs. I'd like to say I did a great rendition of Wonderwall. I think that was the best I've ever sung. There were other songs, a lot of pop, and some old songs. Overall despite the total lack of video to go with the songs and misspellings, I'd rate that place quite highly. I should have recorded it with the digital camera. But as it was I didn't really shoot that many photos, so I guess that could be a good thing. We went to Pancakes for some food at like three am. I was pretty gone. Left there and went to Bondi. Plan was to watch the sunrise. It was so cold. We went to sleep in the back seat of the car. The crampness was good in that it was sort of warm to be huddled together with two chicks, one on right and left of me. However there was a huge downside. It was a killer for getting good sleep done. Neck and shoulder strain. Woke around eight. Missed sunrise. Walked around the beach area. Cold as ice. Went around city and ended up around Broadway. Had enough, went home. The few pictures I did take are at http://home.exetel.com.au/yman/Photographs.html.

Car

Registeration is up for renewal. Just dropped in to say HI, and sorry that i didn't get a chance to talk to you much at Susann's 21. You did sit at the other table for much of it :p Then i had to leave early, coz i got there by train. which is a shame, because u STILL haven't showed me how to chek out people without them realising. I noticed you didn't look very happy for a while that night. Hope you are feeling much better now.

I hate honours and wish it will be over soon, and end well, so i can get a life that is not based on stress and work :( Other than that, it's been peachy.

Hope you are well,
Myvan

Another view

So Raph had his shingid to celebrate turning the auspicious 21 last night. Quite fortunate that it occured at all, but in the end he chose to forego an IPod for the dinner and drinks. A quite detailed account of what occured to the birthday boy can be found at http://milestam.blogspot.com/. I can only offer an angle which didn't really get covered. I'll skip the dinner, and straight to Mandarin club. Man, this place just got more classy, nice lounges. On top of the drinks that were bought by his other friends, I can also say he was also bought a shot of tequila and a bottle of beer. The evening was starting to get going after a slow start. We went to Pav, and more drinks were shouted towards Raph's direction. Can't really remember what. My memory begins to become hazy after absinthe shots and whiskey. I can confirm that he seemed out of sorts by the time we went upstairs, in particularly in the speech department. Quite a few "I'm fucked" slurs. I heard a little bit of the lack of parent identification skills on the phone, since we were at a different seats from the main group. But when he somehow made his way to sit with us, it was obvious not all was right. He had this weird expression on his face. More drinks followed. I bought some chicky drinks as chasers. Not too sure what happened but I do remember being outside in the cold. Something to do with a bouncer. Took the dude to the toilet in some eatery, and he seemed unable to walk properly. Spewing followed later. I made some inappropriate comments about someone I seem to recall. Memory even more fuzzy at this stage, but luckily his relos came to pick him up. We ended up staying for a little longer. I have absolutely no idea how I got home properly. But I did. Basically nice evening, although much of it I can't recall, and I daresay it's not something I'll do again for a long time.
